Appliance Recycling Program
Do you have an older, working appliance using energy in your home? While it may provide additional storage, it’s not worth the additional cost on your electric bill. By recycling your old appliance, you can save over $100* per year in energy costs, and we’ll give you a rebate through the FirstEnergy Pennsylvania Appliance Recycling Program!
FirstEnergy Pennsylvania customers in the Met Ed, Penelec and West Penn Power services areas can receive $50 by recycling a working refrigerator or room AC unit and $25 by recycling a working freezer.
AC units no longer need to be recycled with a refrigerator or freezer. However, mini refrigerators and dehumidifiers must be recycled with a qualifying refrigerator or freezer.
As of May 15, 2025, the FirstEnergy Pennsylvania Appliance Recycling program will no longer be offered in the Penn Power service area and will not accept any new orders. Existing orders must be scheduled for pick up by May 31, 2025.
