Current News: Potomac Edison's Maryland Energy Choice Program

To be compliant with recent changes to applicable law prohibiting the purchase of receivables effective 12/31/2025, electricity suppliers serving residential customers must either switch the customer to dual billing by November 14, 2025, or drop the customer to SOS by December 15, 2025. Utility consolidated billing will no longer be an option for residential customers at this time.

A change is being made to Potomac Edison accelerated switching rules. Effective immediately, we will be utilizing the MAX rejection code (which can be found in the IG on the Commission website). When we receive more than two 814 switches in a single bill period, the 824 with the reason code of MAX will be sent in response. This aligns with the requirements in COMAR 20.53.04.02E.

To request interval data, please submit the request for interval data via Electronic Data Interchange (EDI).  Please note, Letter of Authorization requirements and charges for requests made via the Contact Us form may apply. Contact Supplier Services
