Anthony J. Alexander is president and chief executive officer of FirstEnergy Corp. He also is a member of the Company’s Board of Directors.

Tony began his career in 1972 in the Tax Department of Ohio Edison. He joined Ohio Edison’s Legal Department as an attorney in 1976, was named senior attorney in 1984, and promoted to associate general counsel in 1987. Tony was elected vice president and general counsel in 1989; senior vice president and general counsel in 1991; and executive vice president and general counsel in 1996. In 1997 Tony was elected executive vice president and general counsel of FirstEnergy and elected president in 2000. He was elected president and chief operating officer in 2001 and to his current position in January 2004.

Leila L. Vespoli

Leila L. Vespoli is executive vice president, Markets, and chief legal officer of FirstEnergy Corp. In addition to being responsible for all legal affairs of the company, she is responsible for FirstEnergy Solutions, Federal and State Governmental Affairs, Communications, Corporate Affairs and Community Involvement, and Rates & Regulatory Affairs departments. Also reporting to her is the Corporate Department, which includes Real Estate and Records Management. She also chairs the FirstEnergy Foundation.

Leila began her career in 1984 as an associate attorney with Ohio Edison. After a series of promotions, she was appointed associate general counsel in 1997, named vice president and general counsel in 2000, senior vice president and general counsel in 2001, and executive vice president and general counsel in 2008.  She was named to her current position in 2014.

Charles E. Jones

Charles E. Jones is executive vice president and president, FirstEnergy Utilities. He has responsibility for Energy Delivery, Customer Service, compliance with Federal Energy Regulatory Commission transmission requirements, and Energy Efficiency activities, while leading FirstEnergy’s 10 regulated electric utility companies and other regulated operations in Ohio, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York, Maryland, West Virginia and Virginia.

Chuck began his career with Ohio Edison as a substation engineer in 1978. He held a variety of positions in the Akron, Marion and Elyria areas, and in 1995 was named president of Ohio Edison’s Penn Power subsidiary. He returned to Akron in 1996 as division manager. Chuck was named president of FirstEnergy’s Northern Region in 1997, vice president of Regional Operations in 2001, senior vice president of Energy Delivery and Customer Service in 2003, and president, FirstEnergy Solutions, in 2007. He was named senior vice president, Energy Delivery and Customer Service, in 2009; senior vice president and president, FirstEnergy Utilities, in 2010, and executive vice president and president, FirstEnergy Utilities, in 2014.

James H. Lash

James H. Lash is president, FirstEnergy Generation.

Jim joined the company in 1989 as Safety Engineering manager for Davis-Besse Nuclear Power Station in Oak Harbor, Ohio. He was named manager of Design Engineering in 1994 and earned his senior reactor operator license for Davis-Besse the same year. In 1995 he was manager of Plant Operations, then served as director of Engineering and Service. In 1996 Jim was named plant manager. Following a stint as a loaned executive to the Institute of Nuclear Power Operations (INPO) in Atlanta, Ga., he returned to FENOC as director of Site Operations at the company’s Beaver Valley Power Station in Shippingport, Pa. In 2005 he was promoted to site vice president. Jim was named FENOC senior vice president of Operations in 2007 and was appointed president and chief nuclear officer for FENOC in May 2010.

Donald R. Schneider

Donald R. Schneider is president of FirstEnergy Solutions (FES), the competitive subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corp.

Donny joined the company in 1982 as a technician at the W. H. Sammis Plant. He has served in a variety of engineering and maintenance positions in the generation area, including plant manager of the Bruce Mansfield Plant. He was named vice president of Fossil Operations in 2001. In 2004 he was named vice president of Commodity Operations for FES. In 2006 he was named vice president of Energy Delivery and Customer Service and senior vice president of Energy Delivery and Customer Service in 2007. He was appointed to his current position in 2009.

Peter P. Sena III

Peter P. Sena III is president and chief nuclear officer for FirstEnergy Nuclear Operating Company (FENOC).

Pete joined the company in 1996 as an assistant shift supervisor at the Beaver Valley Power Station in Shippingport, Pa. In 2002, following a stint as an operational evaluator with the Institute of Nuclear Power Operations (INPO), he was named manager of Site Operations at Beaver Valley. In 2005 he was named director of Engineering. In 2007 Pete was named Beaver Valley director of Site Operations and later that year was named Beaver Valley site vice president. Pete was named senior vice president, FENOC Operations, in 2009, and became president and chief operating officer, FENOC, in 2011. He was elected to his current position in 2012. 

Lynn M. Cavalier

Lynn M. Cavalier is senior vice president, Human Resources.

She began her career with Ohio Edison in 1981 as an associate engineer at the Company’s Gorge Plant in Akron. She held numerous engineering positions prior to being promoted to operations supervisor at the W. H. Sammis Plant in 1988. In 1990 she became superintendent of Units 1-4 at the Sammis Plant.

In 1993 Lynn was promoted to superintendent of the New Castle Power Plant and was promoted to manager of Marketing at Ohio Edison’s Pennsylvania Power Company subsidiary in 1994. In 1996 she was placed on special assignment, first leading Ohio Edison’s Power Supply Business Growth Team, followed by the FirstEnergy Market Model Task Force. She was promoted to president of FirstEnergy’s Eastern Region - Ohio in 1997, and named vice president of Human Resources in 2001. She was promoted to senior vice president in 2005.

James F. Pearson

James F. Pearson is senior vice president and chief financial officer. He is responsible for the company’s financial reporting process and interface with investors, analysts and others in the financial community.

Jim began his career with Ohio Edison in 1976 and has served in numerous financial positions, including director of Financial Reporting for Ohio Edison, Group Controller for FirstEnergy Solutions, FirstEnergy’s competitive subsidiary, and Group Controller for the Strategic Planning and Operations group. He was named treasurer in 2005 and was elected senior vice president and treasurer in 2012. 

Michael J. Dowling

Michael J. Dowling is senior vice president, External Affairs.

Mike joined Ohio Edison as a member of the Communications Department in 1986. In 1990 he joined the Governmental Affairs Department and was named manager of Federal Governmental Affairs in 1997. He then held roles as vice president of Federal Governmental Affairs and vice president of Supply Chain before being promoted to vice president of Governmental Affairs in 2005. In 2008 he became vice president, Communications, and he was promoted to vice president, External Affairs, in 2010.  He was named to his current position in February 2011.

Bennett L. Gaines

Bennett L. Gaines is senior vice president, Corporate Services, and chief information officer for FirstEnergy Service Company. He is responsible for the delivery of IT services, including the corporate IT strategy and governance process, as well as the communications/data network. He also is responsible for Corporate Security, Flight Operations and Supply Chain.

Bennett joined FirstEnergy in 2006 as vice president, Information Technology/Corporate Security and chief information officer. Prior to his service to FirstEnergy, Bennett served as vice president and chief information officer at Cincinnati-based Cinergy Corporation where he was responsible for the delivery of all IT services and telecommunications/network operations. Before joining Cinergy in 2003, Bennett was managing director, Business Services, at Powergen plc, and served as corporate director, Supply Chain, for LG&E Energy Corp., a Powergen subsidiary. From 1998-2000, he was employed by EDS Corporation. He was appointed to his current position in 2012.
