West Virginia Solar Program

FirstEnergy is in the process of developing a first phase of solar energy facilities in West Virginia that will generate approximately 50 megawatts of power. The solar program is designed to encourage economic development in West Virginia and help us meet the growing demand for renewable energy by our residential, commercial and industrial customers.

The energy generated from our solar facilities is available for purchase via Solar Renewable Energy Credits by Mon Power customers or Potomac Edison customers located in West Virginia. Residential and small commercial customers will be charged a monthly subscription fee based upon their level of participation and will receive an annual notification of the amount of credits they have purchased. One credit will be generated for every 1,000 kilowatt hours purchased. The average residential customer uses 1,000 kilowatt hours of energy per month.

The solar subscription cost is 4 cents per kilowatt hour in addition to normal rates, and customers can subscribe in blocks of 50 kilowatt hours per month. Larger customers have the option to purchase a direct percentage of their consumption and should contact their FirstEnergy customer representative directly.

If you would like to subscribe to FirstEnergy’s solar program, please fill out the fields below and submit your information. Or you may call 1-800-505-7283 for more information or to enroll by phone.
