What is FirstEnergy's Speakers Bureau?
FirstEnergy’s Speakers Bureau comprises knowledgeable and experienced employee volunteers who conduct informative presentations on key issues facing our company and industry. As company ambassadors, they offer audiences helpful information on topics such as electrical safety and restoring power after damaging storms. Presentations are made to civic groups and customers where we do business (Ohio, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, West Virginia, Maryland and New York).
Are the presentations free?
Speakers Bureau services are offered free of charge to civic organizations such as local Rotary and Kiwanis clubs, as well as chambers of commerce and consumer groups. We ask that at least 25 people be present at your meeting. Speakers are not available for elementary or high school groups.
What presentations are offered?
We offer six presentations:
- Keeping Safe Around Electricity
- Electricity and the Environment
- Energy Efficiency
- Restoring Power after Damaging Storms
- Smart Meters (available in Pennsylvania)

On September 4, 2018, FirstEnergy published the Edison Electric Institute’s (EEI) environmental, social, governance, and sustainability-related (ESG/sustainability) reporting template. FirstEnergy is voluntarily participating in this EEI-led initiative to help provide the investment community with more uniform and consistent ESG/Sustainability data and information.
The EEI ESG/Sustainability Reporting template includes both a qualitative and quantitative section. The qualitative section highlights FE’s ESG governance, as well as ESG plans and progress, while the quantitative section includes data on FE’s portfolio, emissions, capital expenditures, and resources.
FirstEnergy recently responded to the 2018 CDP Climate and CDP Water disclosures, and plans to publish additional ESG materials in 2019, including a Climate Risk Report and an updated Sustainability Report.
