A Letter From John Hawkins, President of FirstEnergy Pennsylvania
Dear Valued Customer,
As the President of FirstEnergy Pennsylvania – delivering power to you each day through Met-Ed, Penn Power, West Penn Power and Penelec – I am glad to have the opportunity to share updates on the work we’re doing to serve you and our communities.
I want to first thank you, our customers, for your patience and understanding as we worked to restore power to more than 387,000 Pennsylvania customers affected by last week's unprecedented storms. We are grateful for your support of our crews as they worked around the clock in the aftermath of one of the most damaging storms to hit the greater Pittsburgh area since 2009. As with any outage, we made a commitment to get power back up and running as quickly and safely as possible, and together, we achieved that goal.
Over the last several months, we’ve continued our efforts to enhance service reliability for our customers, from a new substation in Lebanon County to upgrades that will support growth across western Pennsylvania. We’re also proud to continue to support local nonprofit organizations whose programs improve the communities where we live and work. This includes presenting a $25,000 grant from the FirstEnergy Foundation to Fill a Glass with Hope® to help provide fresh milk to families in need across the state.
In addition to these efforts, we remain committed to helping you manage your electric bills. With summer approaching, we know that higher temperatures often lead to increased energy usage. That’s why this issue of Customer Connection includes information on budget billing options, energy-saving tips and bill assistance programs that can help you take control of your energy use and costs.
Our commitment to you remains steadfast. We take seriously our work to keep monthly bills as low as possible while continuing efforts that deliver value to you, like investing in infrastructure projects to keep your power reliable and supporting initiatives that improve customer experience and help our communities thrive.
We appreciate your trust in us and look forward to continuing to serve you.
Sincerely,
John Hawkins
President, FirstEnergy Pennsylvania
