A Letter From Doug Mokoid, President of FirstEnergy New Jersey

Doug Mokoid

Dear Valued Customer,

I’m grateful for the chance to connect with you on the latest news and updates from your local energy company as we work to serve you, our customers.

We’re nearing the halfway point of our New Jersey Reliability Improvement Project, which will help boost service reliability for thousands of customers. In addition, we’re continuing to meet our commitment to make the environment better. The Merrill Creek Reservoir, of which FirstEnergy is part owner, recently received the Governor's Environmental Excellence Award for its sustainability initiatives and protection of endangered species and habitats. Finally, we’ve been working with our community partners to support important initiatives, with JCP&L, FirstEnergy and the FirstEnergy Foundation giving more than $740,000 in grants to support workforce development, drive economic growth and champion crucial safety initiatives in 2024.

In addition to these efforts, we remain committed to keeping you informed about changes that may affect your energy costs. In our last monthly newsletter, we shared that electricity supply prices are increasing on June 1 and what that means for you. At JCP&L, we recognize the challenges higher prices can bring. As we navigate these changes together, we’re dedicated to equipping you with tools that can help you take control of your energy budget.

This month, our newsletter contains a wide variety of helpful information, from how to shop for a competitive electricity supplier to energy efficiency tips. Many of these options can help you manage your energy use and costs. This is especially important as we head into the warmer months, when you may use more electricity to keep your home comfortable.

Our commitment to you remains steadfast and we take seriously our work to keep monthly bills as low as possible for customers while continuing to invest in our infrastructure and customer experience. JCP&L continues to maintain the lowest residential electric rates in the state, while still investing nearly $900 million this year alone in capital projects that will deliver real benefits to our customers.

Thank you for allowing us to serve you. We look forward to continuing to connect you with the important resources you need while delivering the safe, reliable energy you deserve.

Sincerely,

Doug Mokoid
President, FirstEnergy New Jersey
