Recognized by Vault Magazine® as one of the top 20 internship programs in the nation, FirstEnergy’s Co-op/Intern Program provides talented college students the valuable opportunity to gain on-the-job experience in various locations and positions across the company’s service territory.

In addition to the work experience gained, our co-ops and interns participate in development sessions designed to help improve their skills in areas that are important for business success. They are assigned coaches from their work groups who provide guidance and help them better understand the company.

Because our students leave this program with the knowledge, skills and experience necessary for a career with FirstEnergy, they are given serious consideration for full-time employment after graduation.

We are looking for students majoring in the following academic disciplines:

  • Engineering (electrical, mechanical, nuclear, civil, chemical)
  • Information Technology and Computer Science-related majors
  • Accounting
  • Business Management and Business Administration
  • Finance
  • Supply Chain

To be eligible for our program, you must be currently enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program at an accredited university/college, and must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident. Information Technology/Computer Science, Accounting, Business, Finance and Supply Chain majors require a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA. Engineering majors require a minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA.

Our co-op and internship positions are paid, and relocation assistance is available for all eligible students if they live more than 50 miles from their FirstEnergy work location.
