Sutton Substation Equipment Replacement Project
Monongahela Power Transmission Planning has identified transmission substation protection schemes that are using a certain vintage of substation electromechanical relays and communication equipment that have a history of misoperation at the Sutton Substation. FirstEnergy’s standards call for enhancement of fault protection to reduce relay misoperations, reduce the number of transmission system elements removed from service during a fault and increase the availability of transmission system elements. The required equipment upgrades that need to be made at the Sutton Substation include:
Foundations, conduit and grounding for new equipment
Three 138-kV surge arresters
One 138-kV CVT
One 138-kV Wave trap and line tuner
Construction of the project is expected to commence on or about April 2, 2024, and be complete on or about October 18, 2024.
A paper copy of the application can be supplied within 5 business days upon request at no more than the cost of printing and shipping.
