Niles-Shenango 345 kV Transmission Line Rebuild Project (OPSB Case No. 26-0374-EL-BLN)
In this Project, American Transmission Systems, Incorporated (“ATSI”), a FirstEnergy company, proposes to rebuild approximately 14.5 miles of the existing Niles Shenango 345 kV Transmission Line, from the existing Niles Substation to Structure No. 42033. To accomplish this, ATSI will replace eighty-eight (88) existing wood pole and steel pole structures with eighty-eight (88) new steel structures on concrete foundations. The new structures will be a combination of 345 kV H-frames, 345 kV 3-poles single-circuit steel structures, and 345 kV double-circuit steel monopoles, and will replace the existing structures in approximately the same locations. The Project will also encompass replacing the existing double bundled 954 kcmil 48/7 ACSR conductor with double bundled 954 kcmil 54/7 ACSS conductor. The new installation will consist of two shield wires, one being 7#6 Alumoweld and the other SFSJ-J-14069 Optical Ground Wire (“OPGW”). The Project is in the city of Hubbard, Hubbard Township, Liberty Township, city of Niles, and Weathersfield Township, Trumbull County, Ohio.
