West Fremont Substation Expansion Project (Case No. 17-1904-EL-BNR)

A FirstEnergy affiliate, American Transmission Systems Inc. is proposing to expand the existing West Fremont substation fenced area to allow for the addition of new breakers and buses to support the new Groton-West Fremont and Hayes-West Fremont 138-kV transmission lines. In accordance with Ohio law, this project requires the approval of the Ohio Power Siting Board (“OPSB”), which previously approved both of the new transmission lines in OPSB Cases 12-1636-EL-BTX and 16-1593-EL-BTA. The project involves the expansion of the fenced area of the substation by about 18,000 square feet and will be located in the City of Fremont, Sandusky County, Ohio.
