Springfield Area 138-kV Reinforcement Project
The proposed Springfield Area 138-kV Reinforcement Project will enhance electric system reliability in Clark County and the surrounding area. The project will give customers a stronger, more modernized electric system by adding redundancy to the network, reducing service disruptions, and allowing for future growth when new businesses and homes are built. The project consists of three primary components:
- Expanding an existing 69-kV substation in Moorefield Township to support both 138-kilovolt (kV) and 69-kV operation.
- Constructing an approximately 2-mile long transmission line that will connect the expanded substation to the nearby existing Clark-Urbana 138-kV transmission line.
- Constructing an approximately 5.5-mile long transmission line that will connect the expanded substation to the nearby existing East Springfield-Tangy 138-kV transmission line.

An initial public information meeting was held in Moorefield Township in May. At that meeting, FirstEnergy displayed maps showing preliminary route alternatives under consideration and also provided a fact sheet.
