The non-profit Midwest ISO is an Independent Transmission System Operator that serves the electrical transmission needs of much of the Midwest. The Midwest ISO is responsible for coordinating the planning and operation of the wholesale electric transmission system in all or parts of 15 states and one Canadian province, and oversees the operation of FirstEnergy's transmission assets within the service areas of Ohio Edison Company (Ohio Edison), The Cleveland Electric Illuminating Company (The Illuminating Company), The Toledo Edison Company (Toledo Edison), and Pennsylvania Power Company (Penn Power). The transmission assets of these Firstenergy operating companies are owned by American Transmission Systems, Incorporated (ATSI), a wholly owned subsidiary of FirstEnergy.
ATSI's participation in the Midwest ISO helps ensure non-discriminatory access to, and independent operation of, the ATSI transmission system.
Applications for generator interconnection requests for ATSI should be directed to the Midwest ISO. For more information, click here to link to the Midwest ISO website.
