FirstEnergy volunteers

FirstEnergy employees have a proud history of volunteerism in the communities where they live and work. Our employees traditionally volunteer their time, talent and financial support to a variety of community initiatives, from tutoring elementary students, assisting in adult literacy efforts and helping build affordable housing, to raising money for cancer research and working with neighbors to rebuild after weather-related catastrophes.

Following are just a few of the many examples of how our employees contribute their time and efforts to community-based services:

  • Hundreds of FirstEnergy employees in northeast Ohio have served as reading tutors in the AkronReads and Mahoning Valley Reads programs.
  • Employees in Pennsylvania regularly volunteer their time and talents at the local Salvation Army agencies, distributing food and raising funds necessary to provide quality social services for the entire community.
  • Our Jersey Central Power & Light employees are passionate about charitable giving. Among many other activities, employees outfit children with coats and book bags, cook meals at homeless shelters, and walk in a number of fundraising events,
including the March of Dimes and Making Strides Against Breast Cancer.
