Fossil power plant careers
Our fossil and nuclear plants are where we generate the electricity that we deliver to customers. It's critical that plant operators and maintenance personnel are highly trained and experienced to ensure the plants operate efficiently, safely, and in an environmentally sound manner.

Working in a fossil-fuel plant means you'll be right in the middle of the action, putting your technical skills to work every day. And through our structured on-the-job (OJT) training, you can gain all of the skills necessary to jump into this thriving industry. You'll learn about plant equipment and operation, tools and rigging and system troubleshooting. Go to our Fossil Power Generation page to read about some of the operation and maintenance jobs that you can pursue after successfully completing the coursework offered through one of the technical training programs. Visit one of the schools below for specific school program information.

Nuclear power plant careers
This program can open doors to opportunities in the nuclear generation industry, as well. And these opportunities are becoming available like never before. Since nuclear plants operate without producing air emissions, nuclear power is gaining favor - which will contribute to steady growth in the industry. Combine this with the fact that a large number of nuclear workers are facing retirement in the next few years, and it's easy to see why operations personnel and maintenance workers are - and will continue to be - in such high demand.

That's where you - and FirstEnergy's technical training program - come in. Take a look at the job opportunities available in the nuclear industry and see if this field is right for you. With training, you can get the skills needed to qualify for these challenging and rewarding jobs. Visit the Nuclear Power Generation page to view examples of technical positions.
