With a commitment to safety, The Cleveland Electric Illuminating Company (The Illuminating Company) delivers electricity to customers in northern Ohio. Our service area is home to a number of entertainment, sporting, cultural and dining experiences, scenic parks and rivers, and civic and artistic attractions in Northeast Ohio, including Cleveland's Great Lakes Science Center and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum.

Compensation
Journeyman Lineworker wage range starting from $26.73 to $29.18 per hour
Lineworker "B" wage range starting from $23.53 to $25.15 per hour

Position Requirements
Line workers must:
  • Have at least 5 years of hands-on experience for the Journeyman Lineworker level, or at least 3 years of hands-on experience for the Lineworker B level.
  • Possess skills in pole climbing in distribution and transmission, installing and removing poles, towers and structures, installing and changing transformers, and maintaining residential underground systems.
  • Have a thorough knowledge of the principles and operation of transmission and distribution systems.
  • Possess or be able to obtain a valid CDL operator's license, Class A, for the State of Ohio.
  • Be willing to relocate within a 45-60 minute response time to the reporting site.
  • Complete a job skills demonstration and interview successfully.
  • Be willing to work extra and irregular hours.
