Choosing an electric generation supplier
In the past, Penn Power, your electric distribution company (EDC), provided every aspect of your electric service. This included generating the electricity and delivering it to your home or business. Now, the Pennsylvania Electric Choice program allows you to choose the supplier who generates the electricity. Penn Power will continue to deliver the electricity to you and maintain the same poles and wires. It is like using your local phone company’s lines to make calls with your long-distance company.
You now have the opportunity to choose your electric generation supplier - and perhaps to save money on your electric bill by choosing a supplier based on the best price available or to meet your specific needs because of other services or programs it offers. The choice is yours. If you need more time to choose, or decide not to choose at all, Penn Power will still supply the generation component of your electricity.
