Staying with the electric distribution utility
If you do not choose a competitive retail electric service provider (CRES), your electric distribution utility (EDU) - either The Cleveland Electric Illuminating Company (The Illuminating Company), Ohio Edison Company (Ohio Edison), or The Toledo Edison Company (Toledo Edison) - will continue to supply and deliver your electricity. You cannot be switched to a new CRES without your permission. This is called slamming and it is illegal.
