The most important benefit of customer choice is that it lets you shop for your electric generation supplier, which is also known as a competitive retail electric service provider (CRES). This gives you the opportunity to choose a CRES based on what is important to you. For example, you might simply want the lowest price, so you would select the CRES with the lowest charge. Or, you might want to make a choice based on how the electric generation supply is produced.
