Licensed Suppliers
The New York Public Service Commission (NYPSC) and FirstEnergy are responsible for determining the eligibility status of energy service companies (ESCOs). All eligible ESCOs must post a bond that will ensure their financial responsibility and the supply of electricity to satisfy their contracts or agreements.
As of October 2004, there are no ESCOs that have met all the requirements to serve FirstEnergy customers.
