Understanding your bill
New Jersey's Energy Choice program lets you choose the company that supplies your electric generation. As part of this program, your electric bill shows unbundled charges. No new charges for basic electric service have been added; rather the charges that add up to the total amount due line item - the previously bundled generation, distribution, and transmission charges - are listed separately, as well as supplier charges if you choose a third-party supplier. Even if you don't participate in energy choice and your electric generation supply is provided by your local distribution company, Jersey Central Power & Light Company, you will still receive the same itemized bill.
